Must visit tourist places in wayanad

Wayanad is one of Kerala’s most beautiful retreats, with its green highlands, lush valleys, and cool climate. Wayanad district covers an area of over 2000 square kilometres and is located at elevations ranging from 700 to 2100 metres above sea level.

Every traveller finds this magical place to be worthwhile. It will give you numerous reasons to choose why it is a must visit tourist destination in God’s own country – Kerala, especially wayand.

Edakkal caves

Edakkal caves, which display ancient rock carvings and artistic works. Whether you are interested in the history of historians or archaeologists, this man-made creation will leave you speechless, and you will have an unforgettable exploring tour with your loved ones.

The Edakkal caves are historically and archaeologically significant because they contain carvings from the Neolithic era, also known as the late Stone Age. The stonework in the cave’s interior is estimated to be as 5000 BC to 1000 BC. The hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The prehistoric Edakkal Caves are two naturally occurring alcoves in Kerala’s Wayanad district that are famous for their exquisite rock and wall carvings. The caves have a massive length and width of 96 and 22 feet, respectively, and are located 1200 metres above sea level. Due to its perilous location, one must trek for one and a half hours (around 4000 ft) to reach the cave entrance, and another 45 minutes to reach the cave mouth.

Edakkal caves are located 87 kilometres from Kozhikode railway station and are thus easily accessible by private and public transportation. One can spend around 2 to 3 hours inorder to reach there you need to Take the Pinangode road on the Kozhikode-Mysore Kollegal highway from kalpetta and then  turn right onto the Kolagappara-Ambalavayal road. Take a left, a right, and then the first left from here. Nilambur Road Railway Station, which is 38 kilometres away from Edakkal Caves, is the nearest railway station.

November – March is the best time to visit edakkal caves.

Buses and Taxis are available at regular intervals. The nearest airport and railway station are at Kozhikode, almost ninety-five kilometres away. Your hotel may also arrange your travel on request.

The majority of hotels provide packages that include possibilities for adventure sports and trekking because Banasura Dam is also thought of as the beginning point for the hike. There are high-end and mid-range resorts nearby that range in price from INR 2000 to INR 10,000 per night.

Wild life sanctuary

The unique and endangered species of both plants and animals can be found at the second-largest wildlife sanctuary in Kerala, the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. The wildlife sanctuary is an essential component of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, which was the first of India’s 14 biospheres. The sanctuary has a total area of 345 square kilometres and is divided into Upper Wayanad and Lower Wayanad. In the area, eucalyptus and bamboo trees are grown. The winter months (October to February) are perfect for visiting the Wayanad wildlife sanctuary since the landscape provides a temperate climate with moderate temperatures ranging from 11 degree Celsius to 25 degree Celsius. Kuruva islands

A group of islands in the middle of the Kabini River known as Kuruva Dweep or Kuruva Island is a protected river delta in the Wayanad region of India. Kuruva Island, which covers an area of 950 acres, is heavily populated with a diverse range of vegetation and wildlife. You can take a boat ride or go rafting through the island’s surrounding streams while admiring its entrancing beauty. The Kerala Tourism Department will provide the boats and rafts, and it will only take a few hours to see all the islands. Visitors from all around the world come here to go rafting. Your journey through the streams will be fascinating and adventurous owing to the bamboo rafts.

Entry to this island is prohibited when it’s raining (from June to September). There is a comparatively tiny entrance fee for visitors to the island, which is open from October to May. The timetable runs from nine in the morning to five at evening.

Wayanad is rich with several nature reserves, luxuriant tea plantations, and extensive woods. The Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu line its eastern boundary, and Coorg and other picturesque hill towns line its western border. There are many captivating locations for natural tourism there. We look for peace, calm, and quiet in nature. Railways do not link to Wayanad. It is one of Kerala's best jewels for environment tourism because it is less commercialised than other cities.http://olive resort.in
